Doctor Who Launch Campaign

The challenge was to launch the first ever female Doctor to global audiences and establish, visually, a distinct new era for Doctor Who. Our brief was to bring a ‘new dawn’ to entice lapsed audiences and encourage younger viewers to watch the show.

Using ‘dawn’ as our colour palette and taking inspiration from the set design of the show, we commissioned 3D illustrator & influencer Filip Hodas (520k followers) to create abstract, fantastical shapes for Jodie Whittaker’s era. We wanted viewers to question ‘what does it all mean?!’ by hiding clues within the images. The hexagon shapes, yellow crystals and TARDIS light all allude to what was to come.

The stunning new artwork surpassed our expectations. The sheer quality of the portraiture, iconic stills and glorious graphic illustrations heralded a new era in spectacular style
— Matt Strevens, Executive Producer, Doctor Who

Across the campaign, 5 shoots were commissioned and over 500 unique creative assets created. The work was used globally across all touch points, including out of home in the US, UK, Latin America & New Zealand.
